Potential Military Dining Opportunity

New Facility Location: Tyndall Air Force Base Florida

A “potential” Type 1 military dining opportunity is available for bid at the Tyndall Air Force Base, which is located 12 miles east of Panama City, Florida.  The contractor will be responsible for providing all personnel, and other items or services necessary to perform food service attendant and support services.  The main dining facility is open seven days per week, including holidays, and serves approximately 11,000 – 14,000 meals per month, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The flight kitchen is open weekdays and serves 6,000 – 9,000 meals per month, including lunch, dinner, and a midnight meal. 

This opportunity is projected to begin October, 2017.  However, there’s no guarantee that DBS will be awarded the contract.  The selected vendor will have to select a food service teaming partner which will prepare a competitive proposal in behalf of BBE and has the expertise to execute the Department of Defense contract while working with our vendor.  The contract length is four years. After that time the contract would likely be rebid.

The Division will provide names of potential teaming partners as a measure of guidance. Placement of a BBE vendor in this facility is contingent upon the Division being awarded the contract. There is no guarantee that will happen.  In addition, the Air Force has indicated in the past that the Randolph-Sheppard priority does not apply. This may require a legal challenge on the part of FDOE which FDOE is willing and prepared to make. However, that could delay the start of the contract start date even further.

If awarded the contract, the BBE vendor is expected to be actively involved in the day to day operations of the facility and have an estimated earning potential of $70,000 per year.

Applicants will be required to take a separate 20 question exam on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, beginning at 12:30 PM.  The top five candidates will be invited to interview with the Selection Panel March 6 – 8, 2017.

Selection Cycle Exam

The test for the current selection cycle will take place in the District Office designated by the applicant on his or her application according to the Scheduled Date and Time listed at the top of this page.  Persons arriving after the start of the test will be turned away and disqualified from further consideration. The test shall conclude no later than 4:00 PM Eastern Time. Applicants will be notified by email and follow-up phone call regarding testing date, time, and location. Selection Cycle Interview

The Selection Panel will meet at a location yet to be determined according to the Scheduled Date and Time listed at the top of this page. Interviews for qualified applicants may begin on the first scheduled interview day or at appointed times on the following days. It is expected that the Panels business will conclude no later than 5:00 PM on the last scheduled interview date, if not sooner, depending upon the number of applicants qualifying for an interview.
