Caterpillar Grass Heads

(Family Activity)

Caterpillar grass head. Eyes on one end. Grass sticking out of top.

What you will need

Instructions

  1. Ratio: Mix 1 cup of soil to 1 cup of grass seed.
  2. Put the seed and soil mixture into the knee high stocking.
  3. Use a rubber band to seal the end.
  4. Add cut out eyes to one end.
  5. Soak the caterpillars in water and keep them moist (not wet).

In less than three days, you’ll see the seeds start to germinate. The  roots will come down first. Within 5 to 6 days you’ll have a healthy head of grass hair on your new friend and enough to start cutting the hair.
