Organizational Structure
The Florida Division of Blind Services is under the Department of Education (DOE). The Division of Blind Services is governed by a director who also serves as a DOE Cabinet Member. The Division works with the Florida Rehabilitation Council for the Blind which consists of 19 members appointed by the Governor.
The Deputy Director and the Bureau of Operations and Compliance are directly under the Director.
The Bureau of Operations and Compliance is responsible for the following three sections:
- The Budget Section
- The Management Information System Section
- The Orientation and Adjustment's Maintenance Section
The Deputy Director is responsible for:
- Personnel Section
- Human Resource Development
- Bureau of Client Services and Program Support
- Orientation and Adjustment Center
- Bureau of Braille and Talking Book Library Services
The Bureau of Client Services and Program Support is responsible for:
- All District Offices
- The Bureau of Business Enterprises
- Several Staff responsible for program areas like Vocational Rehabilitation, Transition Services, Blind Babies and Children and Families, Independent Living Adult Services, Employment Outcomes, Client Career Development, and Rehabilitation Technology
Note: The Fiscal Office is administratively placed under the DOE Comptroller's Office.
