MyFloridaMarketPlace - Commodities

If you only will be doing business with us, you only need  to select the continue button to go to the next section in the system.  The registration page may make it appear it is to your advantage to select a code. However, no commodity code is required to do business with us.  Please read the information below to better understand this section of the registration process.  If you don't select a Commodity code on this page, than when you get to the eQuote page and the Solicitations page, select not to participate.

Commodity Code Selection

The Commodity Selection page allows you to select commodity codes that best describe the products and services your organization can offer to the State of Florida. When a formal or informal bid is required by the State of Florida, the agencies use commodity codes to search for vendors that provide the goods and/or services they need. To ensure that your company is visible to the agencies, please take the opportunity to register for commodity codes within your profile. With MyFloridaMarketPlace, agencies now have access to online tools such as eQuote (for informal bid requests) and online Sourcing (for formal bid requests). These online tools provide buyers with lists of available vendors based on commodity codes that the vendor has selected. While formal bid opportunities will still be included as part of the Vendor Bid System (VBS), if you do not select commodity codes within your MyFloridaMarketPlace vendor registration profile, you will miss the opportunity to receive online notifications of eQuote or Sourcing requests from MyFloridaMarketPlace buyers.

You will be provided with a table of commodity categories.  There are two rows, the first uses the +- sign, the second is a link of the commodity category.  Selecting the link will also you expand the category. You are able to select more than one commodity code and the items can be indifferent categories.  Selections are made by using check boxes.

Basically to select your commodity codes, you will:

• Select the links category link to expand the commodity categories
• Select all the commodity codes that apply to your company
• Once you have selected all the Commodity Codes that apply to your company, select the ‘Continue’ button at the bottom of the page to continue with your registration

If an exact commodity code for your product or service does not exist, pick the commodity code or codes that best describes your business. You may select more than one code.  Feel free to view a list of commodity code categories available in the system.
