Quick On-Line Vision Exam for Central Visual Field
An Amsler grid is a useful tool for monitoring your central visual field. You might be able to detect subtle visual changes in your vision that could be caused by macular eye diseases. The test is also beneficial to monitor changes in vision once a vision problem has been detected.
The test is simply a grid made of evenly spaced horizontal and vertical lines. A small dot is located in the center of the grid for fixation. You must test each eye separately.
Cover one eye and focus on the dot in the center of the grid.
- You should be able to see the corners and sides of the square.
- Lines should appear straight.
- No area of the grid should be empty.
If the lines of grid do not look straight or areas appear to be missing and or distorted, you should get an eye exam immediately.

Note: This test is just a TOOL. It should not replace eye exams. Please ensure that you visit your eye professional regularly. Your sight is important. Early detection of eye disease is VERY important and might save SIGHT.
