Organizations of and for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Florida Blind Services has many community partners. This section provides information about organizations of and for the blind and visually impaired that can benefit people who are blind, visually impaired, parents, significant others, or rehabilitation professionals.
- Blind Veterans Association (BVA) - The BVA motto is "Blinded Veterans Helping Blinded Veterans". Service related blindness is not a criteria to join. If you are a veteran living in Florida, you might also want to check out Florida Department of Veteran Affairs.
- Florida Council of the Blind (FCB) - FCB provides support, information and resources for persons who are blind or visually impaired
- Florida Families of Children with Visual Impairments (FFCVI) - FFCVI was created by Florida parents for Florida parents to focus on the unique needs of families with blind or visually impaired children, including children with other disabilities.
- Lions of Florida - Helen Keller challenged Lions to become her Knights of the Blind in 1925. Their motto is "We Serve".
- National Federation of the Blind of Florida (NFBF) - NFBF is not an organization speaking for the blind - It is the blind speaking for themselves.
Individuals who need rehabilitation services can contact a local Florida Blind Services office or one of Florida's Community Rehabilitation Programs serving persons who are blind and visually impaired to learn how to get training related to vision loss.
